Another stool for the collection of beat-up stools I buy at flea markets

Another piece of history I picked up at the Feira da Ladra. 5 euros. One of those famous "hand-painted" stools—though this one must easily be a few decades old. I'm absolute crazy about stools; the moment I spot one as beat-up as this, I just have to buy it.
I still haven't decided if I'm going to sand down the top and repaint it. We'll see. I'm torn between keeping it original or slapping on a fresh coat of paint myself. Visually, you can already spot three different layers, one of which used to be red. That’s the real charm of these stools: the paint layers are like tree rings, and the rough finish is their patina.
