Leviticus (2026) is an Australian coming-of-age supernatural horror film written and directed by Adrian Chiarella, starring Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, and Mia Wasikowska.

The Premise
Set in an isolated Australian suburb, the film follows two teenage boys, Naim (Joe Bird) and Ryan (Stacy Clausen), who are discovering their sexuality and growing attraction toward each other.

The Conflict

• The Ritual: After being outed within their conservative town, the boys are subjected to a cultish, church-sanctioned ritual intended to suppress their feelings.

• The Supernatural Curse: Instead of curing them, the ceremony unleashes a violent supernatural entity—a manifestation of religious fanaticism and shame—that torments them. The entity takes the shape of the person each boy desires most: the other. Whenever they attempt to indulge their feelings or get close to each other, the spirit responds with terrifying violence.

The Themes
Blending body horror, romance, and social satire, Leviticus serves as an allegory for the trauma of forced conversion therapy and the clash between queer identity and religious repression.
