what I’m doing when the 9-to-5 is over

thinking about getting old

Maybe because I’ve been reading too many blogs and looking at other people’s bucket lists, I decided to do a little exercise of my own: what do I want to do/have when I no longer have professional obligations? In other words, when I retire:

  1. Read a lot more: tackling all those books that are just waiting for the right mood and time, and are currently gathering dust on the shelves.
  2. More hikes and day trips around the country (physical health permitting). This country is small, but it’s packed with hidden gems and variety.
  3. Rewatch a bunch of my favorite old movies rather than focusing on new releases.
  4. Dedicate more time to watchmaking as a hobby.
  5. Dust off my cameras: shoot more film and build a small darkroom for developing.
  6. Spend less time mindlessly scrolling the internet.
  7. Learn about bladesmithing and set up a small forge.
  8. Learn more about furniture restoration.
  9. Grow a vegetable garden and learn more about fruit trees.
  10. Get a dog, a cat, and two sheep.
