what I’m doing when the 9-to-5 is over
thinking about getting old
Maybe because I’ve been reading too many blogs and looking at other people’s bucket lists, I decided to do a little exercise of my own: what do I want to do/have when I no longer have professional obligations? In other words, when I retire:
- Read a lot more: tackling all those books that are just waiting for the right mood and time, and are currently gathering dust on the shelves.
- More hikes and day trips around the country (physical health permitting). This country is small, but it’s packed with hidden gems and variety.
- Rewatch a bunch of my favorite old movies rather than focusing on new releases.
- Dedicate more time to watchmaking as a hobby.
- Dust off my cameras: shoot more film and build a small darkroom for developing.
- Spend less time mindlessly scrolling the internet.
- Learn about bladesmithing and set up a small forge.
- Learn more about furniture restoration.
- Grow a vegetable garden and learn more about fruit trees.
- Get a dog, a cat, and two sheep.
